ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Kevin Hawkins has always used his imagination to create new worlds and tell stories worth getting lost in. By day, he's a professional filmmaker, working as a camera technician on episodic series, feature films and commercials — but somewhere between the cameras and the cutting room, a certain swashbuckling captain came sailing into his imagination and refused to leave.
Petey the Pirate was born as a gift to his own kids — a way to spark their imaginations, pull them away from the glow of screens, and remind them that the greatest adventures begin in their own minds and out in the world. Kevin believes curiosity is the greatest treasure of all, and that the best stories make kids laugh, wonder, and get genuinely excited about learning how the world works.
Kevin lives in beautiful British Columbia with his incredible wife Kristina, their kids Teona and Oliver, and their Welsh Pembroke Corgi, Pixie — the unofficial first mate of the family crew.
When he's not writing about Petey's adventures, you can find him learning, exploring and enjoying all that life has to offer.
